The Low Voltage Agreement Group

(LOVAG) was conceived in 1989 and the Agreement was first signed by four members in 1991. Today the number of signatories to the Agreement is now seven coming from Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain and Sweden.

The purpose of LOVAG is the harmonisation of the testing and certification of electrical equipment to which IEC standards, European Norms (EN) and European directives such as the Low Voltage Directive (LVD), the Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (EMC) and the Machinery Safety Directive (MSD) are applicable. The focus is on Low Voltage Electrical industrial and similar equipment (including commercial and public buildings equipment).

By participating in LOVAG the manufacturer may make use of his own laboratory resource and receive third party certification through the Certification Organisations.
